During the early 1990’s, James Gosling started to work on Java based project which was named as
“Oak”. This new project was started to simplify the extensive use of C/C++ applications, while implementing a programming language and virtual machine showing much familiarity with C-like notation. The first version, Java 1.0 was first publicly introduced in the year 1995. It became popular with the tagline “Write Once, Run Anywhere”. Being fairly secured along with configurable security, accessing of any file and network was made limited.

To execute a single program across multiple operating systems.
To embed built-in support while using computer networks.
Design a code such that it can execute securely from remote sources.
To develop an easy to use programming through selecting the better parts from other object-oriented languages.
For instance, to enable remote code execution and networking support, in certain cases Java programmers make use of certain extensions such as OSGi, Internet Communications Engine, and CORBA.
Though Java was introduced around more than twenty years back, this programming language continues to be one among the best popular languages, in spite of introducing many new languages and tools. As a result, Java found installed in more than three billion devices worldwide as of the year 2010. This was reported by Oracle during the acquisition of Sun Microsystems, the creator of Java.
